The FLD is a modern love digest, written with the same verve as a tech or business newsletter. Dating, relationships, family, friendship, sex, and the many ways people connect are all fair game.
Most writing in this space falls into three categories: longform personal essays, advice columns, or service journalism (“Top 5 Ideas for Date Night”). I’m not doing that. Expect culture digests with original reporting, curated links, thoughtful commentary, and field notes to keep it human. Sometimes I pitch stories to publications. If they say no, you might see them here.
I value clarity, honesty, humor, and polish. I do my best to edit myself, but if you’re an editor who’d like to help, get in touch. As far as AI goes, I will have it check for misspellings and typos (it often fails) or ask it a question about grammar, word choice, or flow, but my writing is my own.
About me
Before The FLD, I was an editor at a boutique agency working on magazine-style stories, podcasts, and short films for consumer and tech brands. I’ve also written for magazines. Two pieces I’m most proud of: a cover story on Jim Gaffigan and a cultural commentary on biracial Asian men in Hollywood.
I live in San Francisco with my husband, Moritz, and orange cat, Pinot.
